Advice for Separating Parents

Coming to Court can be slow, expensive and frustrating. It means that someone else will be making the decisions about your family as opposed to family members deciding for themselves. Before you make the decision to make a court application it is worth trying to sort out arrangement for the children or finances by agreement, even if you have tried before.

The Government has a website called “Sorting Out Separation” which you can access by using the ‘web app’ below. In addition, check out the Mediation page which gives information on an alternative way of resolving issues without having to go to Court.

The App below contains many useful videos, guides etc relating to children, parenting, finances, housing, mediation, dealing with conflict and benefits. (Unfortunately the App does not work very well on smartphones, so click here instead if you are using one.)

There are further helpful links on the Separation Help page.
